The Argyler Lodge
The Argyler Lodge is located in the quaint lobster fishing village of The Argyles, constructed on the site of a 200-year-old pier off the shores of Lobster Bay. The sunsets over the Tusket Islands are not only breathtaking but completely different every night. It’s a place where you can sit back and relax while listening to the sounds of the ocean and watching the tides go in and out as boats glide out to sea. A place where roasting marshmallow over a campfire on the shoreline is almost a nightly ritual. Picking fresh vegetables from our greenhouse and gardens is a daily chore. When you enter the building you’ll be amazed by the views of the glass-encased dining room which overlooks the bay.
On a calm morning over breakfast you can see schools of mackerel feeding in the waters. And while you sip your coffee, the gulls follow the fishing boats looking for a snack. After checking in, you’ll make your way up to the second floor where our five guestrooms await, each with a unique personality, but all with private bath and queen sized beds. If you’re partaking in one of the many special events that we host each year (a wedding, retreat, meeting, conference, symposium, forum, celebration), you’ll spend some time in our downstairs banquet room, which can host events as large as 125 people..
Accommodations
Our most coveted room, The Captain’s Quarters, boasts a staggering view of the ocean. Watch the fog rolling in and out, or the lights of the nearby harbour at night. It is a perfect vantage point to bird-watch, & gaze at the water as boats glide past. Sleep soundly with the sea lulling you to into a peaceful sleep. Elegant décor greets you with a plush queen-size bed, fluffy pillows, a bar-sized refrigerator, a convenient day bed with a trundle/pull-out, and a four-piece en-suite featuring thick towels and luxurious bathrobes.
Dining
Open seasonally, our dining room seats about 100 people, and offers award-winning cuisine. Our chef uses only the freshest local ingredients, some of which are grown in our very own garden and others that are caught in our front yard. We are also fully licensed, and have a wonderful selection of Nova Scotia Wines, Craft Beers, Ciders, and local distilleries on our menu.
Weddings
The Argyler Lodge is the ultimate destination wedding location in Nova Scotia. Indoor and outdoor facilities are available to accommodate all of your needs. You can reserve the entire grounds to suit your romantic dream for a perfect wedding. We can accommodate up to 14 people in our six guest rooms, and can seat as many as 100 for a formal dinner. There’s a dance floor and bar on our lower level which is perfect for your reception. It’s a wedding and honeymoon package like no other, in a setting that is soulfully beautiful; an ideal way to start a new life together.
