About the Argyler Lodge

You really must come down to the sea again. To the tides and the fishing boats, the seabirds and the fresh air. Lose yourself at the Argyler Lodge, where the sea indents to form protected Lobster Bay at the confluence of the Tusket and Argyle Rivers. There’s water, water everywhere, complemented by islands, lush greenery, and sunsets beyond compare. Whether you arrive by boat and moor at our docks, or by car, stop, relax, and stay awhile. We’re at your service with Nova Scotia-style hospitality, comfort and chef-inspired casual dining, right there on the shore. Pull up your deck chair, put your feet up, relax. Breathe in… And now, ahhhhh.

The Argyler Lodge is more than just a place to spend the night; we are the definitive accommodations in southwestern Nova Scotia, where to stay, where to eat, what to do. The Argyler is all of those, and a soulful place of grand beauty, the ideal destination wedding locale.

Built in 1996, the Argyler Lodge was the passion of a yachtsman, and strikes the perfect balance between rustic maritime sensibility and modern conveniences. Five tastefully decorated rooms, three with water views, are ready to lull you to rest in the ocean breezes. Award-winning dining awaits to satisfy your hunger, and a selection of world-class Nova Scotia wines and beers will answer to your thirst. Watersports stand by literally at your door; our inn is a sea-kayaking destination. Access to amenities is as easy as complete escapism at the Argyler Lodge, your self-contained haven on the sea.

Reinvigorate, rejuvenate, refresh at the Argyler Lodge. The ideal base for your southwestern Nova Scotia vacation, wedding, business meeting or event. Aye, we’ve got you covered! Come back down to the sea, our sea, your place.

Open seasonally, our dining room seats about 100 people, and offers award-winning cuisine (we’re “burger-famous!”). Our chefs use only the freshest ingredients, and local ones whenever possible; there’s always a fresh supply of something right from the ocean, at our door. We proudly serve the wines of Nova Scotia, from L’Acadie Blanc to Marechal Foch; you’ll be amazed at the quality, and how well they pair with our menu items. A special menu will delight children, and of course, everyone will want to make their meal complete with a delectable dessert.

Our five second-floor rooms are tastefully decorated, all with luxury bedding and queen-sized beds; two rooms also have twin trundle beds that can sleep two additional persons. Four of the rooms have water views, and the fifth, facing east, overlooks the gardens, especially beautiful in first morning light. Each room is equipped with a telephone and flat-screen television, plus ceiling fan or air conditioner. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms, some with bath/shower combinations and others with shower stalls. Our accommodations are comfortable and affordable.

Once you’re here, you will discover all that the Argyler has to offer. A wrap-around verandah where you can relax, sip a drink and watch the sunset. A large tract of land for walking through gardens, wooded areas, or along the beach. A jaw-dropping view of Lobster Bay and the nearby fishery wharf. A fully equipped dining room on the main floor, and bar with a grand fireplace and dance floor on the lower level. A dock for mooring boats. Watersports, especially sea kayaking. Great food and superlative Nova Scotia wines. And the ultimate in congenial hospitality.

We’re biased, of course, but we believe that the Argyler Lodge is the ultimate destination wedding location in Nova Scotia, and beyond. Weddings can be staged indoors or in the summer months, outside on our grounds, our beach, our deck. Whatever part of the lodge that suits your romantic dream for a perfect wedding. We can accommodate up to 14 people in our five guest rooms, and can seat as many as 115 for a formal dinner. There’s a dance floor and bar on our lower level. It’s a wedding and honeymoon package like no other, in a setting that is soulfully beautiful; an ideal way to start a new life together.
